We are delighted to advise that the Minister for Planning, The Hon. Kristina Keneally MP, has just announced a Grant of $30,000 as part of the NSW Heritage Grants 2009-11 to enable completion of the conservation of the 1890 French Puget Organ. In addition, we have been granted a further $10,000 “kick-start funding”. This brings to three the number of Grants, in total $66,250, made available for the conservation of this instrument, recognising its importance and uniqueness in Australian history. It is also a tribute to The Society of the Sacred Heart which has owned and cared for the organ since it was installed in the Convent in Bordeaux in 1890 and subsequently sent to Australia in 1904.
